500px launches redesigned iOS app

The online image sharing network 500px has redesigned its iOS mobile app in an apparent move to compete with mobile platforms such as Instagram and EyeEm. With its white background the new design looks simpler and more streamlined than the previous app. Version 4.0 comes with a home feed that displays a constant stream of images from photographers you are following. Between the images of your contacts you’ll also find the occasional 500px recommendation, allowing for the discovery of new artists and photographers.

The latter can also be achieved via the new Discover section, which now comes with categories, and the Debut feature that highlights noteworthy new members of the 500px community. In addition, both the search engine and the mobile uploading process have been improved.

With this latest update 500px aims to make its content more discoverable on iOS devices and improve its social networking features. If you want to find out if the 500px developers and product managers have done a good job you can download version 4.0 of the 500px iOS app from the App Store now. A new web interface is planned to follow in the near future.
