A third party lens most likely made in Switzerland. Like Carl Zeiss.

Third party lenses should work on a Canon T4i.

I’ve used a Quantaray 70-300mm Tele-Macro Zoom lens on my Canon T1i and XTi with no issues. And a Sigma lens on my trusty vintage Rebel 2000!

EPN stands for EOS Professional Network. It’s based in UK and Ireland though. I was curious and found this post: www.dpnow.com/articles/5605.html

Searching the internet I see the lens is offered on ebay in various market as

Canon EF-S 60 mm F/2.8 USM Lens (Swiss MPN). The lenses on ebay are no 3rd party lenses.

“eBay has been enforcing product identifier (like MPN) requirements since 29 February, 2016. It’s highly recommended that all eBay sellers add such identifiers to items wherever they apply.”

MPN usually stands for Manufacturing Part Number and defines amongst other points the place Canon intends to sell the product.

Service cost could be higher outside Switzerland. In general Canon is fighting the “gray market” and is refusing the service if a serial number is fake or missing.
