Hands on: Leica Q2 Monochrom

brownie – “why B/W?”

Because if you use a camera that is only capable of monochrome, you’ll find yourself visualising every scene in front of you with “monochrome eyes”. You’ll be looking for shapes, textures and tones, instead of looking for colours. It’s a different way of thinking, and a different type of art.

Yes, it’s a small niche user base and only fanatical monochrome photographers will buy it, although numbers will certainly be boosted by people who want it as an investment, or buy it to look cool.

But Leica has always catered to a very small user base, and I’ll bet that they’ll have trouble keeping up with the demand. You might be surprised just how many rich folk (not me, unfortunately) will snap up these cameras.
