Reply to Looking for Nikon Teleconverter for Nikon 70-200mm lens.

For sure with using a 2X teleconverter, you need to accept some compromises in terms of aperture and shutter speed required, especially when fully zoomed. However, presumably you are looking for a teleconverter because you want to extend your focal length. In that sense, getting a small magnification is just a different compromise.

I have had a Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III for the past several months that I have been using with my NIKON AF-S 70-200mm F/2.8E FL ED VR lens, and have been very pleased with it. I need to make sure that I use at least f8, and normally I need to stay at or above 1/1250 for shutter speed. Doing that, I have for sure gotten a number of shots that I would not have gotten without the teleconverter – or not without a larger lens that I could not afford!

However, the following shot was taken at 1/400 and ISO 10,000. I am still very pleased with the result!
