Tintype Portraits of Celebrities at the Sundance Film Festival

Photographer Victoria Will captured portraits of celebrities at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Instead of using her DSLR, however, Will decided to pick up an old Graflex Super D camera and create aluminum tintype portraits of the actors and actresses.

The photographs took a lot of work to make, but the effort paid off in the end: Will has received many accolades for the tintypes that resulted.

“What I love about the process is how raw it is,” Will tells Profoto. “We live in an age of glossy magazines and overly retouched skin. But there is no lying with tintypes. You can’t get rid of a few wrinkles in Photoshop.”
