Wildlife Photographer Adam Jones Takes Canon’s 7D Mark II Into the Wild for a Real World Review

When cameras get put through a review, it’s often done at a pixel-peeping level in a studio, where the lighting is consistent across the board and variables are few and far between. This is NOT one of those reviews.

When it came time to review Canon’s new APS-C flagship, the 7D Mark II, DPReview reached out to professional wildlife photographer Adam Jones and asked him to take the camera out into the wild… literally.

The twenty-three minute review of the camera starts out with DPReview Editor Barney Britton talking with Jones about the Mark II and what they should be expecting throughout the review process. From there, the two pack up and head out to put the camera to the test.

Both Jones and Britton put the Canon 7D Mark II through its paces, shooting an array of wildlife in reserves — including wolves and mountain lions. Once their field tests are complete, the two head back to the comfort of a cozy home to thoroughly break down the pros and cons of Canon’s latest DSLR.
